Battery Usage

I've had a few questions over the year from folks concerned about battery life using WindField. Surprisingly, it's negligible

Test 1

• Device 1: My 1050 running WindField full screen with Radar images. Data polling every 5 minutes.
• Device 2: Another 1050 running stock Garmin fields on an 8 page layout. One of those fields was WindField, but no phone was connected so it wasn't doing any work
• This was done inside my office over 2 snowy days in December. Results on the bike outside may vary

Results

• Device 1 ran for 44 hrs and 29 minutes
• Device 2 ran for 47 hrs and 49 minutes
• Both devices went into sleep mode at 2%, which is where I ended the test
• Both devices brightness at 50%
• Device 1 was connected to my phone via Garmin Connect, while Device 2 was not connected to a phone at all
• Device 1 is 1 year older, so could battery be degraded?

What's Next

I'll run Device 1 again without WindField on the screen but everything else the same.
